The Aspen Evolution series of displays are causing quite a stir in the aviation community. Here are some answers to frequently asked questions. - When will it be available?
- Pro PFD is expected mid to late March, 2008
- ATP PFD is expected end of 2008
- The ATP upgrade is expect to be a software only upgrade from the Pro PFD
- EFD 1000MFD and EFD 500MFD expected late summer 2008
- What other components are there?
- There is an emergency GPS antenna with magnetometer
- Remote mount interface unit (this is a fairly small and lightweight unit)
- What else do I need to make it work?
- The minimum requirement is that the system does need a panel mount GPS for primary GPS position

Redundancy and Safety are Built Right InThe Evolution system delivers a level of redundancy and safety previously unavailable in piston aircraft — at any price. In the unlikely event that your aircraft should ever lose electrical power, each display includes a built-in backup battery designed to keep your Evolution system running for at least 30 minutes, with an emergency GPS for continued situational awareness.
Plus, should you choose to expand your Evolution system with an MFD display, you’ll be adding fully redundant ADAHRS sensors along with your second display. With the push of a button, your MFD can assume the duties of your PFD: no more struggling with partial-panel when your vacuum or electrical systems fail. And your backup instruments will be identical to — and right next to — your primaries, eliminating stressful searching for rarely-used analog gauges.
